These Guys Were Amazing.

I have recently become disabled, going from a highly active lifestyle with travel to suddenly being mostly in bed for months at a time. I thought I could never get around a country like Morocco with my illness and my huge, reclining powered wheelchair. These guys made it possible to travel all over Morocco with my husband and ten year old daughter and tailored the trip to our individual needs and interests. They checked all the hotels for our requirements and worked with them to make sure I was able to access everything possible (with the understanding that when you are staying in fabulous Riads that are from another era there are difficulties to overcome). I needed to have baths rather than showers, which often complicates which rooms are considered accessible (they default to showers), and they went above and beyond to find the places that worked. They also paired us with the most sweet, gentle, caring, fun driver, Khalid. He went way above and beyond. There were so many little moments- overlooks, stopping at co-ops, cafes, rug-weavers, to see goats in the trees, etc. that were all his little surprises for us (if we wanted them) and they were delightful. He knew the guides for the different cities we traveled to and they were all very nice and helpful too. We even did a special Joelette Trekking Wheelchair tour of the ruins of Ait Ben Haddou, which made visiting this amazing site possible when it was utterly inaccessible to wheelchair. We are still in touch with our driver and have a standing invitation to come to his home and meet his family, and he will always have a place in our hearts. I left the dust from the Sahara on parts of my chair to remind me what I was able to do. The whole experience was so empowering and amazing and so much more than I thought was possible when I became disabled. So grateful to Morocco Accessible Travel for making everything possible.
